Types of Denture Relines
There are three main types of denture relines, each designed to meet specific needs:
- Hard Reline: Adds a durable acrylic layer to the inside of the denture, providing a long-lasting, stable fit.
- Soft Reline: Uses a flexible material that cushions sensitive gums or sore spots for added comfort.
- Temporary (Tissue) Reline: Provides short-term support while gums are healing or inflamed, until a permanent reline or new denture can be made.
How the Procedure Works
The process begins with a thorough examination and an impression of your gums. Your denturist carefully removes a thin layer from the inside of the denture and applies new material that molds precisely to your mouth. Depending on the type of reline, the procedure can often be completed in a single appointment or may require sending the denture to a dental laboratory.
